Travel credits

Travel credits are made available for use to book specific Virgin Australia products and services.

Understanding your Travel credit

You may have a travel credit if you had a booking made from 21 April 2020 onwards that was cancelled.

Depending on how you booked your flight, you may be provided with a travel credit in different ways. Select how your booking was originally made from the below tabs, to find out which rules apply to your travel credit.

Features of Travel credits stored in a Travel Bank

If you booked directly with Virgin Australia, your travel credit will be issued to you as a travel credit in a Travel Bank. You can use the Travel credit to make a new booking directly with Virgin Australia on our website or through our Guest Contact Centre, through using your Travel Bank details.

Multiple bookings

Travel credits can be used over multiple bookings, and any residual amount remains valid for use until the credit expiry date.

Flight changes and cancellations by you

Changes and cancellations may be permitted as per fare rules.

Features of Travel credits held by a travel agent

Travel credits will be provided for the value of any tickets or ancillary services provided by Virgin Australia. Your travel agent will manage any amounts paid to your travel agent for their services.

Valid for use on

Valid for use on flights operated by Virgin Australia and flights booked through Virgin Australia and operated by its partner airlines (flights with a VA flight number). Valid for Economy and Business class fares in all fare classes.

Validity period

For travel agent bookings, the validity period of a travel credit will depend on a number of different factors, including whether you booked a domestic or international booking and how you want to use your credit. Please contact your travel agent for further information.

Passenger restrictions

Can only be used for passenger/s named on the original booking. The value of each ticket within a booking is attached to each of the passenger/s on the booking. For example, if a booking is valued at $200 for two passengers, with each passenger’s ticket valued at $100, each passenger can access $100 of credit (one passenger cannot access the full $200).

Multiple bookings

Travel credits cannot be used over multiple bookings. If your fare is non-refundable and you use your travel credits for another booking that is of lower value than your original booking, you will forfeit any remaining value from the original booking.

Use for other products and services

Travel credits held by travel agents cannot be used to purchase ancillary products and services.

Flight changes and cancellations by you

Changes and cancellations may be permitted as per fare rules.
