Brisbane, 9 June 2021: Virgin Australia Chief Executive Officer Jayne Hrdlicka today announced the appointment of Dave Emerson as the company's Chief Commercial Officer.Mr Emerson will join theairline's Executive Leadership Team who are overseeing the business transformation.
MrEmersonis currently aSenior Partner at the consulting firm BainandCompany and has been working with Virgin Australiasince last year,leading many initiatives acrossthe airline.
Prior to his recent work with Virgin Australia,Mr Emersonled BainandCompany's global airlines practice, and has more than 25 years of experience in the aviation and tourism industries.
Virgin Australia CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said thatMr Emerson is an internationally recognised expert in the aviation industry and will be avaluable addition to the airline'sleadership.
"Dave has earned an international reputation for excellencewhileadvising dozens of major airlines in all major geographies globally,andI amdelighted he will be joining our Executive Leadership Team," Ms Hrdlicka said.
Mr Emerson will set and overseeVirgin Australia'scommercial strategy,including our revenue management, sales, distribution and marketing.Hewill commence his role with Virgin Australiaeffectiveimmediately andwill be based inBrisbane.
Mr Emerson willreplace VirginAustralia'scurrent Chief Commercial Officer, John MacLeodwhoannounced his retirement at the start of the year.
Ms Hrdlicka said that MrMacLeodhas made animportantcontribution to Virgin Australia and tothe globalairlineindustry throughout his career in aviation.
