To be considered for our flight crew team as a First Officer on a B737, you’ll need:
- A current Australian ATPL or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and passes in all Australian ATPL theory subjects
- Australian Instrument Rating with MEA, IAP 2D and IAP 3D endorsement
- English language proficiency Level 6
- A valid Australian Class 1 Medical Certificate
- MCC Certificate
- Have the following relevant experience:
- A minimum total flight time of 500 hours with 300 hours in command of a powered fixed wing aircraft (excluding ICUS), that includes 200 hours in command of a multi engine aircraft (excluding ICUS), or
- A minimum total flight time of 500 hours with 300 hours in command of a turbine powered fixed wing aircraft, or
- A minimum total flight time of 500 hours on aircraft certified for operation by a crew of at least 2 pilots (multi-crew aircraft).

Our Pilots operate from a number of different bases around Australia (i.e. Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney). How long does the recruitment process take?
When you express interest in a role as a Virgin Australia Pilot, there’s no standard timeframe for how long it could take to be considered for an opening as opportunities to join the team are planned in line with operational requirements. If you are invited to an Assessment Centre, you’ll be advised of the outcome on the day, and we’ll work with you to organise your start date.

What aircraft will I be flying on?
While we do have a variety of aircraft in our fleet, you will be flying on the aircraft that is nominated in the job vacancy or expression of interest to which you have applied.

Yes. Your paid employment starts on the first day of training. Further information will be provided during the recruitment process on remuneration.
