Customs

Customs is a very serious element of international travel. Learn exactly what you need to do to clear Customs by visiting the appropriate national Customs website below:

Duty Free

Duty Free shopping is a fun start to international travel, but restrictions apply.

Normal baggage allowances apply to your Duty Free purchases, and if applicable excess baggage charges may apply. If your purchases exceed carry-on baggage limits, you will need to check in your Duty Free shopping.

Note: International to international transit passengers may be subject to additional airport security screening at the point of transfer. Duty Free liquids, aerosols and gels may be confiscated if above maximum limitations and packing requirements.

Important: Guests travelling to Australia are not permitted to carry Duty Free alcohol and perfume while transiting through Abu Dhabi Airport. This means guests are not permitted to buy Duty Free at their original departure airport (e.g. London) or onboard the flight to Abu Dhabi.

Liquid Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) and Duty Free liquids in excess of 100 millilitres will be confiscated during the security screening process in Abu Dhabi for flights heading to Australia.

Guests can purchase Duty Free liquids greater than 100 millilitres at any of the following locations:

  • Duty Free shops in Abu Dhabi
  • Onboard their connecting flight to Australia
  • On arrival in Australia
